FIBERstone ™ is a high temperature engineering composite which covers both spectrums of steel and refractory application in heavy industry. Due to the unique combination of high purity refractory ceramic and up to 60% custom made stainless steel fibres, FIBERstone ™ is a very effective replacement for metal parts that are destroyed by process heat and certain refractories that are destroyed by severe impact or thermal cycling.

FIBERstone ™ is supplied in pre-cast form and is professionally designed to take into account attachment, internal reinforcement, application conditions and ease of installation.

FIBERstone ™ Fracture Toughness Index

 

Fracture toughness is the measure of a material's ability to resist the growth of crack or flaw. The above chart compares the fracture toughness of FIBERstone ™ with that of a refractory castable containing a 4% Stainless Steel Fibre addition and a castable with no addition of fibre. Point loading is applied to each specimen and loading comparison begins after the first crack is detected.
